Putting Armadale Business on the Map
What a night for Armadale.
On Friday, 28 August, our business community came together for the Armadale Business Excellence Awards 2026 – a sell-out evening celebrating the businesses, leaders and people who are helping shape the future of our region.
Held at Araluen Golf Resort, a Gold Sponsor of the Armadale Chamber of Commerce, the evening brought together local businesses, government representatives, community leaders, sponsors and supporters for something very important: recognising what is being achieved right here in Armadale.
For the Chamber, the Awards were never simply about handing out trophies.
They were about telling the stories behind our businesses, celebrating their contribution and giving our local business community the platform it deserves.
And most importantly, they were about continuing to put Armadale business on the map.
Business, Government and Community Coming Together
The sell-out evening was attended by representatives from across our business and community landscape, including the Mayor of the City of Armadale, City Councillors and members of the City's Economic Development team, including Luis Pugh.
Seeing business owners, local government representatives and community leaders together in one room reinforced something fundamental to the Chamber's purpose: strong local economies are built through collaboration.
When government understands business, businesses support one another and our community gets behind local enterprise, we create an environment where businesses can grow and our entire region benefits.

Opening the Awards, Armadale Chamber of Commerce President Deena Syed spoke about what local business really means.
We often measure business through numbers – turnover, employment and economic contribution.
But behind every business is a story.
And very often, behind every business is a family.
Deena shared a story from earlier in her career when she had the privilege of working with prominent Western Australian businessman Peter Kailis, whose family was involved in establishing the first Red Rooster in Kelmscott before the business grew far beyond its local beginnings.
One piece of advice from Peter stayed with her:
“Always do business with friends and family. Because if the business fails, you still have a friend.”
It might be the opposite of what many business books tell us, but behind the advice was an important lesson.
Business is built on relationships.
When we look at a local business, we often see the shopfront, café, tradesperson, professional practice, manufacturer or pharmacy.
What we don't always see is the family discussing cash flow around the dinner table.
The husband and wife working late into the night.
The children growing up around the business.
The risks that have been taken, the sleepless nights and the years spent building something.
That is why one message from the President's speech particularly captured the philosophy behind these Awards:
“Size doesn't matter. Impact does.”
A business employing five people can change five families.
A business supporting a local sporting club can positively influence hundreds of children.
A business taking on an apprentice can change the direction of one young person's life.
And one successful local business can create opportunities that ripple throughout an entire community.
Impact. Sustainability. Contribution.
These three principles were at the heart of the Armadale Business Excellence Awards 2026.
When assessing our nominees, we weren't simply looking for the businesses with the largest turnover or biggest teams.
We wanted to understand:
What impact is this business having?
Is it building something sustainable?
How is it contributing to the Armadale region?
The outstanding calibre and diversity of this year's nominees made judging incredibly difficult – but it also demonstrated just how much talent, entrepreneurship and community spirit exists throughout our region.

Business of the Year 2026 – Seven Sins Perth Hills
Our highest honour of the evening was awarded to Seven Sins Perth Hills.
Seven Sins has grown into much more than a successful hospitality business. It has become a destination within the Perth Hills, contributing to local tourism, employment and the wider regional economy.
Its commitment to developing staff and apprentices, supporting local and Western Australian suppliers, delivering memorable customer experiences and actively contributing to the region made Seven Sins an outstanding recipient of our premier award.
Business of the Year was proudly sponsored by the City of Armadale.
Business Leader of the Year 2026 – Sebastian Sindermann
Sebastian Sindermann was recognised for leadership extending well beyond the commercial success of Seven Sins Perth Hills.
His commitment to mentoring staff, developing apprentices, innovation, industry excellence and promoting the region demonstrates the wider impact one business leader can have on their employees, industry and community.
Small Business of the Year – Wolf Web Designs
Wolf Web Designs was recognised for demonstrating the impact a locally based small business can achieve through expertise, growth and a strong commitment to its customers.
The business has built a strong reputation for helping organisations navigate the digital environment while continuing to contribute to the local business ecosystem.
Emerging Business of the Year – NB ReformHer Wellness
NB ReformHer Wellness was recognised as an exciting emerging business with a distinctive approach to women's health and wellbeing.
Its combination of Reformer Pilates, wellness services and community-building demonstrates innovation, a clear understanding of its market and exciting potential for future growth.
Innovation & Technology in Small Business – Bellissimo Bar and Bottleshop
Bellissimo Bar and Bottleshop demonstrated that innovation isn't limited to technology companies.
Its ability to adapt, rethink its business model and create new ways of delivering value to customers reflects the entrepreneurial thinking that allows businesses to remain relevant, competitive and sustainable.
Employer of Choice – Napoli Mercato
Napoli Mercato was recognised for the importance it places on people and workplace culture.
With more than 50 years of family business history spanning three generations, Napoli Mercato has continued to evolve while retaining the values and commitment to people that helped establish its reputation.
Its continued investment in its team, customers and Western Australian producers demonstrates what sustainable family business can look like.

Redgum Justice received the Community Impact Award for the meaningful contribution it continues to make within our community.
This award recognises organisations whose success extends beyond commercial measures and can be seen through the positive difference they make in people's lives.
♿ Access and Inclusion Award – Wizard Pharmacy Kelmscott Plaza
Wizard Pharmacy Kelmscott Plaza demonstrated that genuine inclusion is created through practical action.
Accessible facilities, thoughtful service design and a team committed to respectful and inclusive customer care demonstrate how businesses can ensure more members of our community feel welcome, respected and supported.
⭐ People's Choice Award – Spinifex Sheds
This one belonged to the community.
Spinifex Sheds took home the People's Choice Award, reflecting the strong reputation it has built among its customers through service, responsiveness and project delivery.
Being recognised directly by the community makes this award particularly special.
Pride of Workmanship – Jessica Price, Lotte & Aud
Jessica Price of Lotte & Aud was recognised for exceptional dedication, resilience and pride in her work.
The Pride of Workmanship Award reminds us that behind every successful organisation are individuals who bring professionalism, commitment and care to what they do every day.
Jessica's recognition was a wonderful example of the people behind local business who deserve to have their contribution celebrated.
Sustainability & Environment Award – Beaver Trees
Beaver Treesdemonstrated how environmental responsibility can become part of everyday business practice.
Through responsible tree management, recycling green waste and working to minimise the environmental impact of its operations, Beaver Trees shows that sustainability and good business can work hand in hand.
A Chamber Built by People Who Care About Business
The success of the Awards Night didn't happen by accident.
Under the leadership of President Deena Syed, the Chamber's new Board and dedicated committee members have contributed significant voluntary time, professional expertise, energy and effort to strengthening the Chamber and creating opportunities for our local business community.
The Awards were one example of what can happen when people with different skills and experiences come together behind a shared purpose.
As Deena reminded guests on the night:
“Our job isn't simply to run networking events. Our job is to help create the conditions where businesses can grow.”
Sometimes that means connecting businesses.
Sometimes it means advocating to local, state or federal government.
Sometimes it means providing access to knowledge, resources and opportunities.
And sometimes it means creating a platform and telling our local businesses:
“We see what you are doing. It matters.”
